Zonealarm Antivirus

Zonealarm Antivirus

Unsurpassed virus prevention and removal from ZoneAlarm. Enhanced detection and removal capabilities stop even the latest and most aggressive viruses before they infect your PC. Includes antivirus, operating system firewall, network and program firewall, auto-learn, and much more.

Control and peace-of-mind, at-a-glance
One look at the newly designed Overview panel lets you know if all of your security systems are armed and active or if something needs attention.

Join any public or private network. We’ll make sure you’re protected.
Whether you join an unsecured wireless network at the airport or a safe network at home, we detect it and protect it with the appropriate security policy. So your computer stays invisible when it needs to, and allows printer and file sharing when it doesn’t.

Essential Protection from Viruses and Hackers
Whenever a computer connects to the Internet, it is vulnerable to viruses, worms, and hacker attacks. And more viruses emerge every day, capable of causing severe damage to sensitive files and hard drives. ZoneAlarm Antivirus combines award-winning antivirus security with the world’s #1 network and program firewall and an operating system firewall. The result is multi-layered, proactive protection that’s more robust than basic antivirus solutions because it not only removes viruses already on a PC, but also stops new viruses before they can even infect it. It also features the exclusive SmartDefenseTM Service, which automatically configures security settings to keep experts and novices alike protected against the latest outbreaks.

Comprehensive Antivirus Protection

  • Award-winning antivirus automatically scans and removes viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. Users can change, update, monitor and customize settings via the intuitive interface. Received PC World’s World Class 2005 Award.
  • Advanced proactive detection uses heuristic-, behavior- and pattern-based analysis to detect unknown viruses and malicious programs to protect against emerging threats.
  • Automatic hourly updates stops the newest virus attacks, with new signature that are available faster. Reduced update sizes make updates virtually instant.
  • Multiple automatic scanning options find viruses in emails, compressed files, and in files accessed by a PC (when a file is opened, accessed, written, or restored from disk).
  • Broader coverage also protects from keyloggers, backdoors and other dangerous malware missed by most antivirus engines.

The industry’s best anti-virus is the only one with hourly updates
You get an antivirus database + an extended threat database. You get hourly updates–an industry exclusive. And you get fully automatic, maintenance-free operation. Perhaps that’s why experts choose ZoneAlarm Antivirus over the competition.

The legendary ZoneAlarm firewall
It’s counted on by more people than any other. It wins more awards than any other. And it’s the only one with an extra layer to stop the worst spyware–including root kits–from damaging your computer’s operating system.

Network and Program Firewall

  • World’s #1 network and program firewall uses multiple layers of protection.
  • Barricades every PC port from external attack.
  • Makes PC invisible to hackers when connected to the Internet.
  • Prevents malicious programs from accessing the Internet and transferring stolen data.

Operating System Firewall (OSFirewall)

  • Detects suspicious behavior and disables dangerous programs on the operating system.
  • Monitors program installation, registry changes, and file access down to the operating system, as well as monitoring additional program actions for more thorough protection against spyware, Trojan horses, rootkits, kernel-level attacks, and other threats.

SmartDefense Service

  • SmartDefense Advisor automatically provides safe recommendations on whether users should allow or deny Internet access to programs that request it.
  • DefenseNet acts as an early warning system to keep PC security updated from the latest spyware attacks using up-to-the-minute intelligence from the ZoneAlarm community.
  • Outbound filtering tells when a program on the computer is trying to access the Internet, and prevents unauthorized or unknown programs from sending out personal information.
  • MD5 Signature Technology is the equivalent of a human fingerprint for programs. It helps prevent users from accidentally granting Internet access to malicious software that pretends to be legitimate.

Game Mode

  • Allows gamers to temporarily suppress security alerts with one click, for uninterrupted fun.
  • Maintains maximum security during game play.

Additional Security Features

  • Inbound MailSafe automatically quarantines suspicious email attachments and blocks them from auto-launching or being opened by accident.
  • Outbound MailSafe automatically monitors outgoing email and halts messages with potential viruses before they’re transmitted. Prevents worms and viruses from sending infected emails to everyone in an address book.
  • Wireless PC protection identifies new and unsecured networks, sets appropriate security.
  • Free upgrades for one year so you always have the most current version.
  • Free online technical support available 24/7 and through the automated support agent.

Easy-to-Use Security

  • Pre-loaded security settings provide easy, instant protection for anyone who wants simplicity with peace of mind.
  • Auto-Learn is a system that automatically configures security settings based on a user’s unique computer environment and behavior, making the initial set-up virtually silent.
  • Easy setup includes a new interface and pre-scan that make getting started even easier.
  • Automatic network detection identifies new wired or wireless networks so users can adjust protection when at home, at the office, or in an Internet cafe.
  • Automatic update notification keeps Internet security current with automatic alerts when new updates are available.

2 Stars Not bad
Not a bad product, the only problem I am having is that the automatic updates do not work. Have to manually download updates from the website.

I suppose I am getting better protection if i am using a Pro version, but not really sure.

Spyware never seems to update when i click on the “update spyware” link, alwasy reads “not responding”.

If I could go back in time, I would have stayed with the free version.

I wouldn’t recommend it nor would I buy it again.

3 Stars Mixed feelings about this product
I bought this product because I had downloaded a demo version from their site that worked pretty well. I had to reformat and reinstall my programs, and when I tried the product again, it slowed the internet connection to the point of it being useless. I have since removed the software, and I am a bit reluctant to install it again on the system, even though I have the licensed version, afraid that it will mess things up to the point of having to reformat and reinstall, which would be a small catastrophe in my case. The first time worked like a charm, the second time it was awful. I don’t know what to do with it now. I am waiting for a “computer wiz” friend to help me decide if it is a good idea to install it or not.

3 Stars Bought to upgrade to new version for 20% of cost
Bought this old version to upgrade to 2007 version, worked fine and only cost 20% of current version. Software works ok…buy and update the sw–>then dload the update which is really 2007–>good to go

5 Stars Rated the best by Consumer Reports Magazine
I just go the Sept. 2006 Consumer Reports magazine. ZoneAlarm was rated the best for all-around protection. See pg. 27.

3 Stars It’ s good that I reviewed the notes from the folks.
Free is always good especially if the firewall is “high-rated” by many publications. I am an old firewall “wolf”, so I know “ins” and “outs”. I installed the free version of ZA to several home and small business PCs as well as to my laptop. I did not have any problem until I have decided to install it to my own, main PC at home. The installation requests to reboot the PC. My PC is configured carefully and protected with various programs: registry cleaner, anti-spyware, anti-virus, and hardware-based firewall. It happened the first time with my PC when after reboot I’ve got only blinking cursor. Wow! Is that “something”, or not? I had to power the PC down 2 times (!), booted in the Safe mode, rebooted, powered down again, and only then the XP Pro got back to normal. In spite of some booting problem (that I did not contributed to ZA at that time), after 2-3 days of functioning with ZA, I have decided to look at the buying options (eBay and Amazon - the most reasonable prices). Thanks to all reviewers, I have decided NOT to buy the product, especially because I know that the “blinking cursor” problem was attributed by the firewall software (and it’s not a good sign), and also because it is the Check Point’s product, and obviously the technical support is provided by Check Point. I know this company for a long time; I am the Check Point Certified Engineer. I highly respect the original, industrial strength Check Point’s firewall (NGX, etc). The ZA is a product that was acquired recently. What I have experienced myself that Check Point’s technical support s**ks big time. I assume, the same situation is with Zone Alarm, so, I’ll use the free product until I will find something better or until it fails again. Maybe version 2008 will be better?

4 Stars best I’ve found
this is the best internet security I’ve found. It does slow things down when scanning, but all programs I’ve ever used have slowed things down.

I have found that using Firefox browser leads to FAR LESS spyware on my machine. When I use IE I usually have 20-30 spyware caught by Trend Micro. Using Firefox there is no spyware.

3 Stars 2006 Norton Internet Security Software is a loser
I have been a satisfied Norton user for 8 years now. As usual, I was about to upgrade my 2004 Norton Internet Security module to the new 2006 update, here’s what happened:

1. I was asked to remove all my Norton software from my computer before installing the download (duh! I had no back up of the program or install file on my original software.)

2. The program de-installed Spam Blocker from Norton as well as NISS.

3. The 2006 upgrade installed smoothly. Went to try and get onto the internet with my Microsoft Outlook that I had been using for the last 5 years and it would not work.

4. Called technical support (India). Took four calls before I could get anyone that I could understand.

5. Told me to de-install and re-install (twice) 2006. Did that. Still would not work.

6. Support technician said the problem was Microsoft Outlook or Explorer that had been working fine until I installed 2006 upgrade.

7. Spent 5 days trying to get help. Finally took all Norton off my computer. Explorer and Outlook worked fine. Lost Spam Blocker, but reinstalled and is integrating well with Outlook.

8. Called American Express and told them to void my American Express charge of $49.95 to Symantec.

Will attempt to put just Norton Virus Control back on my computer since I still think it is the best, but will never consider Norton Internet Security Software of any kind in the future.

Mike

PS - I just extended my service contract on my other computer using the Norton 2004 software and it is working fine.

4 Stars Norton Internet Security slows down my system to a crawl
NIS 2005 AntiSpyware edition came with my Dell computer that I purchased that year. While I’m satisfied with the protection that it gives me, I find that the computer moves very slowly at times, especially at startup. When I start up my computer, I take a 5 minute snack break to make better use of my time. I’ve since updated to the 2007 version and observe the same thing. Norton has too much going on in the background, which greatly compramises system speed. For optimum protection with greater efficiency (smaller footprint), I recommend trying NOD 32 Antivirus, available through [...].

2 Stars Wrong product shipped
They shipped the wrong product I asked for 2000 they sent 2005 which is not compatable with my operating system so Now I can’t even use the product.

1 Stars Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition creates as many problems as it solves
After reading many reviews, both postitive and negative, of the Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition, I went ahead and purchased it. I have been a Norton user for years, so I decided to take a chance. It installed easily and worked beautifully for almost two months. Then my computer started crashing. After many attempts to find the root of the problem and after much expense, I am convinced, as other reviewers warned, the Norton software is to blame. Now I cannot turn off my computer without its crashing; I am unable to update my antivirus protection because I get a message via the Norton software that it cannot make an Internet connection. (I have followed all directions for correcting this that is found on the Norton website, but nothing works.) Also, the software really slows down the receiving of email. And forget getting any help from Norton other than what is written on their website. In essence, I have paid a hefty sum for software that causes crashes, causes sluggish performance and worst of all, cannot give me up-to-date protection. I feel totally ripped off. So tonight I am going to uninstall Norton (which from past experience I suppose will involve more than a simple uninstall click) and try PC-cillin.

I would recommend any potential Norton buyers to beware.

1 Stars Norton Internet Security and Antispyware

I had to send back to Symantec. It would not download on my computer as I have Windows ME. I was told the 2005 edition would download on my computer, but it wouldn’t. They are sending me a refund.

I appreciate the fast service and the good attitude on the phone, and politeness given to me. They were ready to please the customer.

Rita C.Clark
